Food Webs In The Mangroves
The food web, or chain, is also very important to the mangroves. The food web is made up of every organism in the habitat which they are in, from the leaves from the trees to the stingrays or even sharks. There are three categorised sections of organisms:
- Producers,
- Primary Consumers and
- Secondary Consumers.
Producers
These are the main resources in the Food Web. They are plants that do not feed off any other organism. They get their food from the sun, using photosynthesis to convert it into the plants food. The Producers provide food for the Primary Consumers.

- leaf litter,
- sea grass or
- seaweed.
Primary Consumer
These are the middle resources of the Food Web. They are the animals that provide food for the Secondary Consumers. They get their food from the producers, feeding from their minerals. For example, the crab gets their food from the leaf litter and other waste that has come to rest in the sand.

These are the final and most dominant of the Food Web. They are the animals that eat the Primary consumers, with nothing to eat them. They get their food from the Primary consumers, feeding from their meats.
